Spragg's Meat Shop
Spragg's Meat Shop has its processing base in Rosemary AB, but operates a retail location at 9675 Macleod Tr S Calgary as well as a farmers market location in the Calgary Farmers Market. It is a vertically integrated farm direct business where Greg and Bonnie Spragg raise pigs outside on pasture; all the pork is processed through the meat shop and then sold through out Alberta. The pork raised and sold by Spragg's has less than 500 km of transportation distance used within the production and retail distribution map. The pasture raised hogs mean happier pigs as well as being a more environmentally sustainable model for hog production. As much as possible; Spragg's Meat Shop tries to lower its environmental impact with packaging choices, reusable shipping containers, and choosing energy efficient processing and refrigeration equipment. Spragg's Meat Shop has been operating for 15 years and is the largest free range pork supplier selling locally in the Calgary area.
